Linux Diskless Client - Linux Net PC
An easy way to create and maintain all needed files for diskless linux clients.

Features:
  Supported software on client:
    all applications installed on server (including X Windows)

  Harddisk space needed on server:
    common, for ALL clients: 
        about 6MB
    extra space for each client: 
        very little, enough to hold clients /tmp directory 

  Easy Admin
    client gets all data via bootp and nfs
    one configuration on server, no installation or configuration on client
    run scripts after major software updates on server
    new clients made easy (one file to edit and one script to run,
       two more files needed for X)

Server (assumes same type of CPU on server and all clients)
    any PC running Linux
        a lot of ram or/and fast cpu for better performance
    enough harddisk space 
        to hold all applications and 
        user homedirectories
    tested with S.u.S.E. 4.4 - 6.0
        other distributions should work
    works with Kernel 2.0.x and 2.2.x
    new version assumes glibc based system - may break otherwise

Client:
    any PC which can run Linux (i386 and up, tested with Kernels 2.0.x 
    and 2.2.x)
      i386    with   4 MB - enough to start shell
      i486    with   8 MB - enough to start X
      pentium with  32 MB - run almost every application
    Local Disk on Client 
      not needed
      if available:
        Swap Space
        Filecache to speed up loading via network
    Boot from
      network card with Bootprom
      local floppy
      via loadlin from MS Dos/MS Windows

Non x86 Server/Clients:
    should work - untested
    ATTENTION: same type of CPU on server and all clients !
